No. Just different. Also what most people don’t tell you is that most people who garden/farm alot who use worm castings mix them in as an ingredient to there other compost! Also if you are talking about composting humanure or any other manure product you are going to use a standard bin (and NO TURN) system…

    How do you compost? …
How do you compost? Every week I mow the lawn and come out with bags and bags of grass, and I end up having to refertilize my lawn again. It seems like a wasteful process. From what I get, do you just dump anything organic into an ventilated container and wait for everything to turn into soil?

Has anybody heard of the new “Naturemill” machine?

Also, are worms a better technique than just normal mixing and turning?

Good point re: turning. Not necessary and can actually be inefficient as you lose the heat already built up.

I combine the compost into the soil. It’s an organic fertilizer. It improves the structure and fertility of the existing soil. There is another clip you might like to view. It is called, “How to Compost”. Good luck on your endeavor! It’s totally worth it!

I want to start composting but I have a question. Do you use only the compost to plant your plants in? Or do you use a combination of the compost and dirt from your yard?

After composting and recycling, I hardly put out any trash. My garbage man likes me now!Compost creates a dramatic difference. My once bleak backyard now looks like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. My friends see it, and wonder how I did it. I gladly share my secrets with them, encouraging them to do the same.

Although I applaud the initiative of these people, the video foments some myths about composting, the 1st that there is a “No List” of composting materials, like meat and excrements, that’s simply not so, anything organic goes. The 2nd is the turning of the compost for ventilation, well in some few cases it might help but in most cases it is even detrimental for the composting process. For a good source for composting know-hows go to weblife org webpage. Happy composting to ya all.
