Is it okay to put nuts in a compost pile?
My husband threw a bunch of stale peanuts in our compost pile. I know the shells are okay, but these were just nuts (roasted, I think). Is this okay or will it cause a problem?
If not – why not? The only answer I can find on the web is that they may attract animals. Does the fat in peanuts harm the compost pile in some way?
Absolutely DO NOT put any type of nuts in a compost pile. You can put used coffee grounds, any type of green leafy veggies,TOMATOES, CARROTS, NO MEAT,NO FISH, NO POULTRY, NO OIL,. Nuts have a lot of oil in them, & wouldn't make a good healthy compost pile.

There is no problem. They will rot and make good compost. You can put anything organic in compost.
